Which country will be the first to have a Climate change lockdown? I reckon they will start next year. Probably NZ.
No new gas boilers from 2025?
No new combustion engines from 2030
Smart Meters and wifi enable thermostats - wonder where that will lead.....
But lets not stop production in CCP land or stop them building a new coal fired power every week.

We used to burn trees. They all went.
We also used wind but water was better.
Then Coal saved the day, but was filthy.
Then oil made it all more movable.
Most of the energy comes from the Sun.

I recently came across a piece somewhere that contended that any economic structure is limited in it's scope unless fundamentally changed
The gist being that the western industrial revolution is being rapidly undone by it's Chinese and developing world competitors and that technological change would divert towards the 'Green Revolution' whereby a total economic re-set in the west would provide the industries of the future and with it, the inherent corporate profit
The interesting point was that the imperative was not 'Green' but self sustaining profit
Made me think and ties a few loose ends

Whether you believe in climate change or not we should be moving onto renewable energy sources.
Fossil Fuels cant and wont last forever.
Some 45% of our electricity comes from renewable energy. Increasing by the year.
moving in the right direction.

There is undoubtedly things the human race is doing that isn't in sync with nature and which aren't ethical and these things need to be reeled in. Humans have this urge to push boundaries and science into areas it shouldn't.
Messing with climate and weather is such an area.
I'm in no doubt that the majority of climate change initiatives are just driven by opportunity to make money and exert power and control and are not for any meaningful impact for the good of nature.
The one thing I am 100% sure about is that nature itself will always find a way to sustain itself by eradicating the things impacting it through natural disasters, plagues, famine and the like. We can't save everyone or control everything.
It's also no surprise that some of the Sage lot are now moving onto climate change agenda. Climate lockdowns will be a thing in the future I'm sure. Only the rich will enjoy the free world.

I remember the posts back then and completely agree with you.
Its annoying that not only did we not object to this on environmental grounds but on grounds of national security and the hollowing out of working and lower middle classes who saw their jobs exported abroad for no benefit to them apart from the latest iPhone or a slightly cheaper wide screen tv.

I believe in climate change but not in that it’s due to humans and I don’t think we have xxx amount of years before human life is wiped out as a result
I very much believe that road pollution is very bad for our health and possibly the cause of many illnesses

Coffee, regarding CCP getting a free pass it seems to me that if one is a climate change cause denier it’s a contradiction to condemn China for doing what the industrial western world once did and still does to a lesser extent.

In the real world, China has signed up to the Paris Accord, is implementing and its emissions are due to start falling this decade. So it's not all doom and gloom as far as China is concerned.
